If the pressure cable is pulled in a more even manner the pressure will be too low at light throttle. Failure to hook-up the throttle cable in this way will burn the three-four clutch pack up fast. Report John answered 5 years ago The test is: Once you start the truck the pressure should drop to about when you rev the engine it may increase slightly but may not and if you do a road test it should be If it pressurizes good but drops below 11 when you initially turn the key on then I would suspect there’s a good chance the diaphragm in the regulator has ruptured. If it doesn’t put out good results to begin with then we could suspect the pump.
Did you blow through the fuel filter after removing it? If there was excessive restriction it could have easily fried the pump due to the filter causing the fuel to “back up”.

When the brakes are applied the relay switches to pin 87 and the circuit is broken, thus unlocking the torque converter. A common Bosch-type relay used. If you do not understand basic wiring, get help from someone who does or research it first. It’s not rocket science. When pressure is applied, the switch closes the internal contacts to complete the circuit. Pressure turns them “on”, no pressure they are “off”. The pressure switch with 1 pole is self-grounding. This means a wire connected to it will be grounded through the switch case when pressure is applied to the switch. The 2 post switch can pass current through the switch when pressure is applied.
No voltage passes through the switch when there is no pressure. These switches are not designed for use on the outside of the transmission case because they are made with bleed holes in them to equalize the pressure from the heat of the ATF they are exposed to. For use on the outside of the transmission, use switches rated for external use to avoid possible fluid leakage.

You need the low-vac switch so the converter will unlock in low vacuum situations, such as going up hill and heavy throttle. The brake cancel switch unlocks the TCC when the brakes are applied. Trucks that came stock with R4 trannys came with a low-vacuum switch and a brake cancel switch. For some strange reason the low-vac switch doesn’t let the TCC unlock soon enough with this mod.

In his original gearboxes, he used a hodge podge of Muncie and T10 architecture. I’d be really surprised if you had “Muncie” gears from him. Can you get tooth counts? On to crash boxes! If you look at your gears, underneath the actual helical gear teeth, is a small ring of little saw-teeth. This is your clutching ring or engagement teeth. In a “crash box” you file every other tooth, or every 2 teeth off.
The sliding clutch is splined on the inside, and these splines mesh with the engagement teeth on the gear. Now you’re “in gear. To do this, you remove every other tooth, and every other spline. Some people remove two splines and skip one. Then you take the bronze synchronizer ring and either throw them aside, or mill the engagement teeth off to suit. Often times the synchronizer springs are omitted as well.
First gear usually isnt modified, because you only downshift into 1st.
